WELCOME TO THE FACULTY OF COMMERCE

It gives me great pleasure to extend a special warm welcome to the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) and the Faculty of Commerce Students and Staff. The Faculty of Commerce is home to a diverse and vibrant community dedicated to discovery, to making knowledge matters and to developing its students and staff members to their full potential in different Management, Marketing, Accounting and Finance areas. The faculty is made up of the departments of Accounting and Finance and Business Administration.  It offers both undergraduate and post- graduate programmes including a Ph.D by research. The programmes are an outcome of regular needs assessments, skills gap report, and extensive consultation with representatives of the private sector, government, development partners, and the professional institutes. The Faculty also benchmark with global and regional Institutions of Higher learning in the Business and Commerce area. Thus the strengthened and specialized niche-driven programmes would enhance students’ chances for greater employability and aid them obtain maximum exemption from institutions granting professional qualifications. The process of revision of programmes is a continuous one that is made in response to the specific and contemporary industrial needs. The faculty also endeavors to create a student centric environment for effective teaching and learning and also has faculty members who bring a singular commitment to education and a common desire to help students achieve their personal and academic goals.

The demand from the global economy, business and government has prompted the need to produce 21st century graduates and certificate programmes that are aligned to emerging skills gaps. In view of the above, the Faculty of Commerce is committed to developing responsive educational and professional programmes that are niche driven to service the needs of all the key business, economic, technological, social, political, legal and agricultural sectors nationally, regionally and globally. The Faculty is anchored on the three conventional pillars of higher education institutions, namely: Teaching, Research and Innovation as well as Community Engagement. However, to bring in the local context and yet remain global, the faculty has embraced a fourth pillar, namely, Entrepreneurship. This pillar is in line with the Third Strategic Plan (2023-2027) of the University of Eswatini.

After graduating, our students are highly sought after and are given excellent first positions in the competitive job market. Being a student in the Faculty of Commerce at this time is exciting because we are expanding and improving our programmes to consolidate our national eminence and global relevance. We are eager to have you join our Faculty and become a member of the vibrant staff and student community at the University of Eswatini.

Enjoy your studies!
